Installation & Care

01

Professional Installation

Natural stone mosaics should be installed by an experienced tile professional familiar with industry best practices and natural stone applications. Proper substrate preparation, environmental conditions, setting materials, grout selection, sealing, and maintenance all contribute to the long-term performance of the installation.

Customers are encouraged to review all installation materials and methods with their contractor or installer to confirm the environment and intended application are suitable for natural stone mosaic installation.

For natural stone mosaics, white thinset mortar is generally recommended to help maintain the natural appearance of lighter stone materials. All installations should follow the most current guidelines established by the Tile Council of North America (TCNA) as well as the manufacturer instructions for all installation products used during the installation process.

02

Sealing

Natural stone is inherently porous and should be sealed after installation to help protect against staining and moisture absorption. We recommend STAIN-PROOF® penetrating sealer for both natural stone surfaces and grout joints.

STAIN-PROOF® sealer is available through our shop for convenient purchase alongside your mosaic selection.

03

Routine Maintenance

For routine maintenance, natural stone surfaces should be cleaned using a pH-neutral stone cleaner. We recommend FILA® Natural Stone Cleaner, which safely removes everyday dirt and residue without damaging the stone or protective sealer.

FILA® cleaner is available through our shop to help maintain the beauty and longevity of your installation.

04

Natural Variation

Natural stone is a product of nature and will exhibit variation in color, veining, movement, texture, and tonal range. These characteristics are part of the inherent beauty and uniqueness of the material and should be expected from piece to piece and sheet to sheet.
